GotBlack Radio has seen some new updates in the past week, including direct linking from the playlist to search for and purchase music, a listener graph, and news. I will be adding more as I find the time, so keep watching and keep listening.
2007.05.26 - Convergence 13 and Skinny Puppy
We're at Convergence 13 in Protland, Oregon this weekend. You can catch some pictures here or watch a few horrible cell phone videos from Skinny Puppy below.
2007.02.20 - Radio Updates
After I got the initial code written and got GotBlack Radio 2.0 online, I kind of just threw a bunch of music in there (including some broken tracks and some complete crap) and I'm sorry. The good news is that I've begun the painful process of re-iporting all the good stuff (without the bad stuff). I am also including a TON of new stuff (much of it not yet released). The change-over should be near-seamless in a week or so.
2007.01.06 - Elvis and Anabelle
Jenna Green at Goldcrest Films International emailed me today to ask for my help in getting the word out about their new film that will be hitting SXSW soon. It's called "Elvis and Anabelle" and it sounds interesting, though you never really know until you see how they pulled it off. Here's the synopsis she sent:
In “Elvis and Anabelle,” every terrible tragedy brings about something equally miraculous. Groomed by her overly ambitious mother (Mary Steenburgen), Anabelle (Blake Lively) is on the road to winning the Miss Texas Rose tiara when she dies tragically during a pageant. Her death lands her on the embalming table of Elvis (Max Minghella), an embittered young man whose sense of family duty and love for his ailing father (Joe Mantegna) keep him from following his dreams. When Anabelle is miraculously resurrected on Elvis’ embalming table, the two unexpectedly connect and sparks fly. With the help of each other and Elvis’ father, they discover love, freedom and happiness as the real world and their own demons threaten to force them apart. The part about "their own demons" worries me a bit. I hope they haven't tainted a possibly good film with too much plot twist. Sometimes that can work to a movie's advantage, too. We shall see.
I will wait until I can see it before I make any real judgment, but you can hit the teasers at http://www.elvisandanabelle.com and if any of you find your way to a screening of Elvis and Anabelle at SXSW next moth, please let me know how it was. I would love a review.
2006.12.21 - Music and Wedlock
Two months ago today, I got married in Michigan. Michelle and I came back to Phoenix, went to London and Paris for the honeymoon, and came home again a few weeks ago. With everything going on, we've both been as busy as ever. With the new year quickly approaching, I'm making preparations for site changes, new music, an updated GotBlack Radio player and page, and everything else I've had on my plate for a while now. I have a lot of new music to add and possibly some reviews. Metropolis has me ready for a good Christmas with all the new CDs they're about to unleash in early January. I will post reviews.
